To install DrJava on a Windows machine:
- Make sure you have installed JDK 6 first.
- Select Download Windows App (this is an .exe file).
- When prompted, select where you wish the file to be saved, and it will
be downloaded to your computer.
- Double click on that filename to run DrJava (better yet, create a shortcut to it on your desktop).
- NOTE: If you get a message in DrJava that says "no compiler", it can't find the location of the Java compiler,
which should be in a file called tools.jar that you downloaded with the Java JDK. Try doing this in DrJava:
- In the Edit menu, click on Preferences. In the Preferences window, there is an area
for "Tools.jar location". You can browse for that to the right of the input area. It should
be in something like C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04\lib\
If you did not install the Java JDK in the suggested folder of your computer, do a search for
tools.jar in your computer (including all system files) and enter the path to your tools.jar
file in the input window beside "Tools.jar location".
- Click on OK.
